Supervisor’s requirement · applies to every route above: routes that set no HSK or Chinese-proficiency requirement still require applicants to be able to take their courses in Chinese and to communicate fluently and write their thesis in Chinese.

The PhD is self-funded and full-time, standard 4 years; tuition for Foreign Languages & Literature is ¥40,000 total for four years. CSC / Shanghai / CSP full scholarships do not apply.
The 2027 guide is not yet published. Contact Prof. Jiang and prepare materials around Nov–Dec 2026; online registration is expected in early January 2027.

Visiting us
Prof. Jiang's office is in Bldg. 5, Rm. 156, on the Songjiang campus of Shanghai International Studies University. From central Shanghai, take Metro Line 9 to Songjiang University Town station, then transfer to the campus shuttle (about 15 min).
Visitors from abroad are encouraged to contact us in advance; we can help arrange accommodation and visa documents.
